In the Ukrainian folklore tradition, birds have always symbolized the awakening of new forces in natural cycles, harbingers of spring and changes for the better, both in nature and in the life of every person.
They were considered messengers of God's will and the heavenly world.
The author of the drawing is Olesia Vakulenko. She is a third-generation artist. She has been working with Ukrainian traditional motifs for over 20 years. She weaves symbolism and meaning into her patterns.
